Sales and Operations Planning – a term that managers keep hearing that is somehow associated with forecasting but what is it and how can it help to improve their business? S&OP is a process to develop tactical plans that provide management the ability to strategically direct its businesses to achieve competitive advantage. The process brings together all the plans for the business (sales, marketing, development, manufacturing, sourcing, and financial) into one integrated set of plans. A consensus plan means that everyone is working with the same plan and going in the same direction with complete management “BUY IN” to the plan.
